Rambling to Claude

Everything in freundebuch comes in by talking. After you meet, call or message someone, tell Claude about it the way you would tell a friend. Voice in the Claude app works well.

What Claude files

From one ramble, Claude records a conversation: the date, how you met (in person, call, video, message, event), who was there, a short summary and your words verbatim as the transcript. Attached to it, whatever it heard:

Item Example
Fact "New job at Siemens from November" (work, home, family, health, hobby, travel, other)
Promise "Send her the moving company's contact": by you or by them, with an optional due date
Exchange A gift idea, a gift, money, something lent or help, in either direction
Date Birthday, anniversary or another yearly or one-off date
Relationship Partner, spouse, parent, child, sibling, friend, colleague, introduced by … and groups like "Uni" or "Climbing"

People who are only mentioned ("Ella started kindergarten") are filed too, with what you learned about them, but they don't count as a meeting.

When Claude asks first

Claude is told to stop and ask you in three cases:

  • Something sounds sensitive. Health, relationship trouble, money, anything said "between us". Claude asks whether it should be private. Only the sensitive items become private; the rest of the dinner stays shared. See Private and shared.
  • A name is ambiguous. If you know two Sarahs, or "Sara" looks like an existing "Sarah", Claude asks which one you mean. freundebuch refuses to create a second person with an existing name unless Claude confirms it's someone new.
  • A check-in interval is suggested. A briefing can suggest how often you might want to see someone, based on how often you have. Claude offers it and saves it only once you agree.

After filing, Claude reads back in a sentence or two what it saved, so you can correct it right away.

Tips

  • Ramble right after the meeting; details fade fast.
  • Say names the way you use them. If Claude asks, nicknames can be saved as aliases ("Lu is Lukas Hoffmann").
  • Mention promises explicitly ("I said I'd …", "she wants to …"). They show up in reminders.
  • Mentioning a gift idea in passing is enough. It waits on the person's page until the next birthday.
